Sri Lanka visa for Indians: free ETA, 2026

Since 25 May 2026, Indian passport holders pay nothing for Sri Lanka's 30 day tourist Electronic Travel Authorisation. India is one of 40 countries on the free list. You still have to apply online before you fly.

The short version

• Cost: free for the tourist ETA (Indian passports, since 25 May 2026)
• Stay: up to 30 days, double entry. Re entry uses the remaining days; the clock does not restart
• Apply at: the official portal, eta.gov.lk. Ignore look alike agent sites that charge fees
• Passport: valid at least six months from your date of entry
• At the airport: officers may ask for a return ticket and proof of funds, and you fill a disembarkation card

How to apply

1. Open eta.gov.lk and choose a tourist ETA.
2. Enter passport details exactly as printed, travel dates and your first address in Sri Lanka.
3. Submit. Approvals usually arrive by email within hours. Save the PDF on your phone.

Staying longer than 30 days

Business travel

Meetings, conferences and site visits need a business ETA, which is a separate category with its own fee. Choose the right category; a tourist ETA does not cover business activity.
